Female student robbed at RU campus

A female student of Rajshahi University (RU) on Tuesday afternoon was robbed on the university campus. The victim student was Jemi, a first year student of Psychology Department.

She said, she along with her friend, Mamunur Rashid, a first year student of Applied Physic And Electronic Department of Islamic University, Kustia, was sitting at Senate Building of the university around 5:00pm. A group of unknown youths riding motor-cycle came to them and snatcherthreatened saying that they are the men of Bangladesh Chhatra League, ruling Awami League backed student organisation of RU Unit.

They snatched Tk. 1500 and two mobile phones and one laptop from them. However, her friend was able to manage the laptop and the mobile phones to get back when the snatchers fled, she added.

Contacted RU Uint BCL President said, the snatchers were BCL expelled leaders and their aides who were trying to spread the violence on campus over naming BCL.

“It is the duty of the university to ensure the proper security of the students and they are failed to ensure that,” he added.

RU Proctor Prof Tariqul Hasan could not reached over mobile phone for his comment.
