The past decade has not been good for Greenland. It has been during this period when the melting of glaciers had been noticed leaving many stumped.
Many researches too were done to get to the depth of the story. But a new study is at the centre of attraction as it has been touted as the first ever comprehensive picture of melting of glaciers in Greenland.
A group of researchers at the University at Buffalo who were involved in the study have now confirmed to the fact that lose of ice in Greenland has been going on at a more rapid rate. Since the report surfaced, the second largest ice body on the Earth is at the centre of attraction.
Scientists, who have been keeping an eye on the development, feel that the melting is not good in the sense that it might cause extensive dangers to the coastal communities spread from Florida to Bangladesh.
Shedding lights on the development, Beata Csatho, one of the researchers, in a news release, said: “There are 242 outlet glaciers wider than 1.5 km on the Greenland Ice Sheet, and what we see is that their behaviour is complex in space and time. The local climate and geological conditions, the local hydrology-all of these factors have an effect. The current models do not address this complexity.”
