Hero Alam accuses Arafat of poll fraud, calls for public retribution

Ashraful Alam, widely known as Hero Alam, has accused  in a recent video statement Mohammad Ali Arafat, the former Minister of Information and Broadcasting, of forcibly taking away the seat that Alam had won in the Dhaka-17 by-election. Alam, a well-known YouTuber and independent candidate, claimed that Arafat’s supporters physically assaulted him during the election campaign.

Alam’s allegations come amidst a backdrop of political turmoil and the recent arrest of several influential figures from the previous government following mass protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Alam reported that despite lodging complaints with the local police and the Detective Branch (DB), he received no redress for the alleged assault and election fraud.

In his video message, Alam urged the public to take action against Arafat. He called on citizens to “catch Arafat wherever you find him, give him a public beating, and hand him over to the law enforcement agencies.” Alam also warned that he and his associates are actively searching for Arafat, vowing to deliver the same treatment if they find him.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions and disputes surrounding the recent elections and the broader political climate in Bangladesh.
