A meeting of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) was held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Board Room of Islami Bank Tower. Prof. Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher, Chairman of the Bank presided over the meeting.
Local and foreign Directors along with Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director and Prof. Abu Bakr Rafique, Member Secretary of Shariah Supervisory Committee of the Bank were present in the meeting.
Prof. Abu Nasser Mohammd Abduz Zaher said that the Bank has been working for the economic development of the country through diversified business activities. He said the government is trying to bring happiness in social, individual and state life through various development activities. Islami Bank is also working with the same mission as an auxiliary of the government. Islami Bank is ethically, mentally, morally, practically convinced to comply the guidelines, instructions and policies of all regulatory authorities including Bangladesh Bank and SEC, the IBBL Chairman said adding that it is fully compliant with the principles of Shariah.
He said the Bank since its inception has been totally transparent in all of its activities like collecting deposits, making investment and incurring expenditure. All of our banking transactions are well recorded, verified and audited by internal and statutory auditors including Bangladesh Bank, he added.
He said the Bank is open for any appropriate authority, legal authority to inspect any office account or activity. The Bank did never expand any investment or assistance in favor of any business or non business people for any unethical, anti-state, anti-law and anti-human activities. The Bank has shown zero tolerance to illegal, unholy and terrorism activities.
He said this Bank belongs to the 160 million people of the country. This Bank is working for all the people of the country irrespective of cast, creed, religion, sect, gender and political standing. There are huge numbers of non-Muslims among both of our deposit and investment clients. A big portion of our RDS beneficiaries is women and non-Muslim, the chairman said. He requested all to be more responsible in making comment regarding the Bank.
The meeting expressed its satisfaction while evaluating the performance of the Bank over the success & progress achieved so far and took some important business decisions. Beside these, the management was advised to play pioneer role in industry and agriculture sector by enhancing trade & commerce for the growth of the country.
