Korean OEA co to lead Ctg urban environ improvement efforts

Promoting ESG management through the ‘Clean Chattogram Initiative,’ following success in education and healthcare development
Sung Ki-hak, chairman of Youngone Corporation, a global OEM company producing outdoor brands such as The North Face, is spearheading efforts to improve urban environmental conditions in Bangladesh.
Following initiatives in talent development and healthcare modernisation, Chairman Sung is now advancing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by supporting urban cleanliness projects that enhance the global reputation of Korean enterprises.
According to industry sources on the 25th, Chairman Sung attended the launch ceremony of the “Clean Chattogram Initiative” held on the 22nd (local time) at Chittagong Independent University (CIU) in Chattogram, Bangladesh.

The event was also attended by Chattogram Mayor Shahaydat Hossain, CIU Chairman Lutfe M. Ayub, and other local dignitaries.

The Clean Chattogram Initiative was launched under the slogan “Let’s Keep Chattogram City Clean.”

The campaign aims to raise public awareness of cleanliness, promote waste separation systems, and create a clean and sustainable city.

Chattogram is home to the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), which Youngone Corporation has developed over more than 20 years since its initial investment in 1999.

After the launch ceremony, Chairman Sung joined participants in a street march and public awareness campaign, leading the group while holding a banner reading “Let’s Make Chattogram a Clean City.”

Under Sung’s leadership, Youngone has expanded its social contribution activities from education and healthcare to environmental stewardship.

In February, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CIU to discover and nurture future talent in Bangladesh through joint efforts such as curriculum development, scholarships, and internship programs.

This month, Chittagong Youngone Nursing College (CYNC) began student enrollment within the newly built medical complex in KEPZ.

Following the opening of a general hospital in December last year, the new nursing college represents Youngone’s continued investment in healthcare modernisation.

The company aims to contribute to Bangladesh’s medical advancement while providing modern healthcare services to both KEPZ employees and residents.

Mohaymenul Islam, Senior Advisor of Quality Assurance at Youngone, stated,

“The Clean Chattogram Initiative was launched in partnership with CIU and the Chattogram City Corporation. We are committed to helping create a cleaner and more sustainable city.”
