Eleven Bangladeshi nationals were pushed into Bangladesh illegally by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through Bangabari border under Gomostapur Upazila here last night. Fire Service wins First Division Chess League

Fire Service & Civil Defense Sports Club became unbeaten champion in the First Division Chess League-2013, organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation. Fire Service & Civil Defense earned 16 match points to clinch the title and Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar became unbeaten runners-up with same match points. Their tie was broken by game points. Vegetables remain high due to short supply

The price of vegetables rose by Tk 10 to 20 per kg in the city’s kitchen markets on Friday due to short supply during the latest blockade period. Traders said that they were ready to pay higher fare to the truck owners but most of the drivers refused to arrive in Dhaka for security reason. Rais Uddin, a wholesaler of Karwan Bazar, said, huge quantities of vegetables had been perished in Bogra and Jessore every day during the hartal and the blockade time. President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have called for creating awareness about fatal disease AIDS in the country. In separate messages on the eve of World AIDS Day -2013, they wished success of all programmes of the day. In his message, the President said AIDS is a preventable disease. The practice of religious, social and family codes played an important role in law prevalence of AIDS in Bangladesh. Joint efforts are on in the government and private levels in Bangladesh to check the risks of AIDS, he said and called for upholding the importance of humane, economic and social aspects of AIDS along with health risks.
