UN Chief Guterres arrives

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Dhaka this afternoon on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus. An Emirates flight (EK-586) carrying Guterres landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at around 4:26 pm.

Midnight protest at DU, demands home adviser’s resignation

In a late-night demonstration, a group of Dhaka University (DU) students staged a protest on campus, demanding the immediate resignation of Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, citing a surge in crimes across the country.

The protest began at 1:30 am on Monday on the university campus.

The students issued an ultimatum to the Home Adviser, demanding his resignation by 1 pm on Tuesday.

ISD commemorates Language Day, promotes linguistic diversity

International Mother Language Day marks the martyrdom of the valiant people of Bangladesh who sacrificed their lives to establish Bangla as the state language. Such a sacrifice for the sake of the mother language is a rare occurrence in the human history. To pay tribute to the martyrs and commemorate the significance of mother tongues, International School Dhaka (ISD) has recently organized an assembly in nine languages. The event, a testament to linguistic diversity, took place at the Gym of the ISD Campus.
