The United States Department of States today said it is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on Bangladeshi individuals responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic election process in Bangladesh.
"These individuals include members of law enforcement, the ruling party, and the political opposition," said State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller in a statement today.

On July 23, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh upheld a lower court decision that said Mohammed Yunus must pay taxes on $7 million of donations he made between 2011 and 2014 to three trusts — Professor Muhammad Yunus Trust, the Yunus Family Trust and the Yunus Centre.
