US Ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena on Sunday said necessary steps have been taken to expedite US visa application process from here which will help build stronger bridges between the people of the two countries.
“I’m a bridge builder…it’s my second job (to build bridges),” he said while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of new visa collection centre at Saimon Centre in the city.
The US envoy described the opening of three visa collection centers in Chittagong, Sylhet and Dhaka as an important development in promoting partnership, relationship and building bridges between Bangladesh and America.
Sharing his experience of visiting Bangladesh’s 64 districts, Mozena said there are so many Bangladeshis who want to build bridges between the United States and Bangladesh.
“We want to make the process of building bridges easier and faster to connect the people of Bangladesh and America,” Mozena said adding that the number of visa recipients saw a significant rise recently following ‘revolutionary changes’ in visa process.
Earlier, the US Embassy introduced a new system for immigrant visa collection and post-interview document submission through a new customer-friendly website – www.ustraveldocs.cpm/bd.
In the past document submission and visa collection services were centralised in Dhaka and now applicants can reduce their trips to Dhaka and utilise the visa collection centre—Saimon Overseas.
From today, all immigrant visa applicants will be able to submit their post-interview documents through the nearest visa collection centre.
Meanwhile, all immigrant visa applicants will be able to submit their post-interview documents through the nearest visa collection centre from December 1.
