Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain on Thursday said that a new law will be enacted to enforce the updated Bangladesh National Building Code. He made the remark at a seminar in the capital on Thursday morning.
The seminar, titled ‘Sharing of Updated Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC)’ was organised by Housing and Building Research Institute (HBRI), with support from NARRI (National Alliance for Risk Reduction and Response Initiatives) Consortium.
“The updated Bangladesh National Building Code will be sent to the cabinet for its approval,” the Minister said.
Speaking as the chief guest, Engr Mosharraf Hossain said urbanisation is growing fast across the country while the local government bodies like municipalities and the local administration are now planning to construct multistoried buildings.
“We must strengthen our monitoring to see whether the authorities are following the building code or not,” he said.
