Staff Reporter:

Police dispersed students who had gathered at ECB Chattar in Mirpur on Monday noon to protest the recent deaths during student movements and to demand the release of individuals arrested by law enforcement agencies.

The students began their demonstration around 12 PM. However, by 12:30 PM, police had moved in to disperse the crowd, according to reports from the scene.

Following the dispersal, the protesters regrouped in different alleys in the area. Additionally, police obstructed another group of protesters at Mirpur-10 as they attempted to bring out a procession around 12:30 PM.

Security forces, including members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, and army, have taken positions at various strategic points to maintain order.

The student protests have been a response to recent incidents of violence and deaths during movements advocating for their rights and justice. The heightened security presence aims to prevent further unrest and ensure public safety.
