The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has signed an agreement with the Skills for Industry and Competitiveness and Innovation Programme under the Ministry of Finance to groom some 10,000 highly skilled workers afresh in the real estate sector.
REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman and Executive Project Director (additional secretary) of Skills for Industry and Competitiveness and Innovation Programme Mohammad Walid Hossain signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
REHAB senior vice-president Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, vice-president Engineer Abdul Latif, vice-president (finance) Abdur Razzak, and SIP-REHAB Project Chief Coordinator Kazi Abul Kashem were present, among others, on the occasion, according to a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Walid Hossain said REHAB had earlier imparted training to some 21,000 trainees with efficiency, while the standard of their training was satisfactory. “The participation of female trainees was very encouraging. Hopefully, REHAB will play a significant role in imparting higher training in the real estate sector in the future,” he added.
Md Wahiduzzaman said the association has so far imparted standard higher training to some 21,000 workers in the real estate sector, while around 90 percent of them are employed in various real estate and developer companies in the country and abroad, thus playing an important role in the country’s economy.
According to the release, the training will be imparted to the trainees free of charge, while each trainee will be given stipend. The higher training will be given mainly in four areas: electrical installation and maintenance, plumbing and pipe fittings, machinery and steel binding, tiles, and marble works.
The duration of the training will be four months, while the trainees will have scope for getting jobs abroad.
