Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd (SJIBL) awarded scholarships among the brilliant and poor students of the country. In connection to this, the bank arranged a scholarship awarding ceremony on Saturday at the BanghabandhuInternationalConferenceCenter in the city.
A total of 500 students of different Colleges, MedicalColleges and Universities received the scholarship for their brilliant result. Each student received onetime taka fifteen thousand for SSC level and taka twenty thousand for HSC level, says a press release.
AK Azad Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank Lted presided over the ceremony while the Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman was present as Chief Guest on the occasion.
Among others, the Vice-Chairman of the Bank Syed Nurul Arefeen, Former chairman Engineer Md. Towhidur Rahman, Mohammed Solaiman Directors Abdul Halim, Khandoker Sakib Ahmed, Tofazzal Hossain, Md. Rokon uddin khan, Md. Masud, Managing Director Md. Abdur Rahman Sarker, Deputy Managing Directors Md. Abdul Jabber Chowdhury, Md. Shafiul Azam and Md. Setaur Rahman were present in the meeting.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman thanks Shahjalal Islami Bank Authority for continuing aid and financial support to the under privileged people of the country as the part of CSR activities.

Convoking “Education is the backbone of a Nation” he requested to all the rich man as well as organizations to participate in CSR activities. It is very necessary to participate to the poverty alleviation program to make the diagram success the governor mentioned in his speech.
SJIBL Chairman AK Azad said, Shahjalal islami Bank’s contribution is remarkable to the economic growth of the country and the bank is rendering lots of social activities as its CSR activities. The brilliants are contributing to build up a maniflous nation along with the national economic growth of the country. The young brilliant students of our country are acquiring dignity both in the home and abroad by dint of their merits. At present the educational ingredients are being expensive, so the upper class in our society should extend their financial support for the education of the poor brilliant students. The brilliants will be turned into valuable assets in our country if they were given proper financial opportunity. Shahjalal Islami Bank will always stand by these brilliant students.
Managing Director Md. Abdur Rahman Sarker indicated in his speech that SJIBL is continuing its operation to develop the economic and social condition of the country from its very beginning and continuing Scholarship award from the year of 2006. This year scholarship has disbursed Tk. 1.00 cr. among 500 brilliant Students. He hopes that the brilliants will be benefited financially for affiliating their study.
