Panasonic India eyes BD, Africa to raise market share
Panasonic India is looking to enter Bangladesh as well as African nations like Kenya and Nigeria as it seeks to tap new markets for its smartphones, bulk of which are currently sold domestically.
The company, which is exploring a full-fledged manufacturing facility for smartphones in India, is looking at doubling its headcount in software testing, field testing and software development to 300 people over the next one year, as it expands produce line-up and sales of smartphones.

Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata) has recently announced that GSMA, the association governing the Global Mobile Industry, has named Dr Hans Wijayasuriya, the Group’s Regional CEO for South Asia and the Group CEO of Dialog Axiata PLC in Sri Lanka, as the first recipient of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Asian Mobile Industry’ Award for 2016.

China inflation eases in June: govt
China's consumer price growth slowed in June, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Sunday, giving the central government room for further monetary stimulus to stabilise economic growth.
The consumer price index (CPI) -- a main gauge of inflation -- rose 1.9 percent on-year, the National Bureau of Statistics said, lower than May's 2.0 percent but higher than the 1.8 median forecast in a Bloomberg News survey of economists, reports AFP.
Moderate inflation can be a boon to consumption as it pushes buyers to act before prices go up, while

International Crisis Group has called the 1 July Dhaka attack the most visible manifestation yet of the threat that a new generation of self-styled jihadis poses to Bangladesh that boasts of its pluralistic society.

JP firms assess work prospects, staff safety in BD
Friday’s terrorist attack in Dhaka has dampened work prospects for many Japanese firms, which in recent years have grown more dependent on Bangladesh as a manufacturing base as well as a market.
