India’s Pristyn Care pulls out of Bangladesh after July upsurge

Indian healthcare startup Pristyn Care has ceased its operations in Bangladesh less than a year after expanding into the neighbouring country. The company, backed by investors such as Peak XV Partners, Tiger Global Management, and QED Labs, had initially planned an investment of Rs 100 crore to establish a strong presence in the Bangladeshi healthcare market. However, strategic and political challenges rendered the venture unfeasible.

Kolkata company to build Bhairab bridge

In August, a barge will start from Kolkata with a special consignment for Bangladesh. It will be a 102.4-metre span of the second Bhairab railway bridge across River Meghna. Eight more spans will follow and the bridge will be completed within the first half of 2016. This double-line bridge, being constructed by India as part of the $1 billion line of credit to Bangladesh, will be an important link in the Dhaka-Chittagong rail route. “The company has also been selected for a project in Sri Lanka.
