The Dhaka elevated expressway will remain until the Bangladesh government lifts the curfew. The construction and operating firm of First Dhaka Elevated Expressway (FDEE) Company Limited has revealed the updates.
The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion in Dhaka
Two toll plazas on the expressway’s Banani and Mohakhali points were set a fire by miscreants on July 18 and 19 during the quota reform protest. After that, Bangladesh government imposed an indefinite, countrywide curfew.
FDEE says the damage is worth around Tk 50 crore. Operation and Maintenance Department’s Manager Captain (retd) Hasib Hasan Khan told the media “The company is asking the government to provide security to reopen the expressway,”
Once the curfew is lifted, the expressway will be opened, but its Banani and Mohakhali parts will remain closed, he said. The government opened part of the expressway in September last year.
