Sharon Weber, Deputy Consul General of US Embassy in Dhaka opined, the United States government encourages applications for US Visas from Bangladeshi nationals.
She said, applications for and issuance of US Visas have remarkably increased in Bangladesh in the recent years which is very good for the economy of both countries, but the US govt encourages more and more applications for different types of US Visas, especially B1/B2 Business Visas from Bangladesh.
Sharon was addressing as the Guest of Honor in a seminar on “How to Apply and Obtain a US Visa” organized by International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) on 01 December 2014 at Hotel Naz Garden in Bogra. The seminar was in fact a continuation of series of activities which was organized in the past by IBFB in Dhaka in December 2012 and also in Chittagong in February 2014.
Hafizur Rahman Khan, President of IBFB presided over the seminar and Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President of IBFB facilitated the program. Amongst others, Omar Shafayat Kausar, IBFB Vice President, Ali Deen, IBFB Director and President of Naogaon Chamber and Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, distinguished Life Member of IBFB and Chairman of Executive Committee of IFIC Bank Ltd, Enamul Haque Dulal, Vice President of Bogra Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Sairul Islam, Managing Director, Runner Properties Ltd. and other eminent business leaders from Bogra attended the event. Benjamin M Fehrman, Second Secretary of Dhaka US Embassy was the key presenter in the seminar.
Hafizur Rahman Khan, IBFB President and Chairman of Runner Group of Companies, discussed at first about importance of travelling to different for continuous growth of respective businesses, especially those involved in manufacturing and export. Being the largest economy in the world, USA therefore can be a great choice for the entrepreneurs to explore their business opportunities.
IBFB as a non-partisan nationwide business forum, he said, is pleased to play the role of a facilitator in making such explorations. Giving emphasis on frequent travelling from Bangladesh to USA and vice versa, Ms. Sharon Weber opined, it is very important to enhance bilateral business and economic relationships among business counterparts of these two friendly countries. While discussing about different types of US Visas and their application procedures, Benjamin informed the participants that US Embassy has recently introduced a partnership with IBFB called “Business Visa Program” through which valid IBFB Members can apply for B1/B2 Business Visa and expedite early dates for interview and relevant other facilities.
