Women’s ethnic wear e-commerce portal Ishi Maya will enter Bangladesh through a partnership with a local company to sell its merchandise in the neighbouring nation.
Vinayak Online Marketing Private Ltd, which sells merchandise from Gujarat, Rajasthan and West Bengal, through the Ishi Maya platform, will launch a dedicated portal for Bangladesh. It has tied up with Bangladeshi firm Karigari for the same.
“Bangladesh is a key market for Indian women ethnic wear. For this market, we have tied up with a Bangladeshi company. Through this tie-up, we will be able to offer services like Cash On Delivery, Same day delivery to customers in Bangladesh,” Nitin Gupta, CEO of Vinayak Online Marketing Pvt Ltd told PTI.
He, however, did not share financial details such as investments and revenue sharing for the company’s Bangladesh foray.
On the overall expansion in the domestic market, Gupta said the company plans to add products from other states as well.
“We would be increasing our product portfolio by adding more designers and adding other ethnic categories from Bengal, Kashmir and South India,” he added.
Besides, the firm is also working with Indian marketplaces and investing on own indigenous merchandise.
“We are also working on some innovative concepts to boost ethnic wear sales. These concepts, once realised, will position us as one of the leading brands for ethnic Indian wear in India,” Gupta said.
The company, which gets about 2,000 visitors on its web portal Ishi Maya daily, has people of Indian sub-continent origin in countries like the USA, the UK and Australia as its key customers.
The company is also in discussions with small boutiques in India and abroad for possible partnerships.
When asked about Vinayak Online Marketing’s investments in the next five years for its expansion, Gupta said, “It depends upon the response we get for our newer initiatives like Bangladesh portal, our innovations around sale of ethnic wear etc.
