ACCA Bangladesh hosts annual career fair in city

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is organising its annual ACCA Fair 2014 at the University of Dhaka on 10 and 11 January. The event will give potential students and their parents an opportunity to meet with ACCA’s Approved Learning Providers as well potential future employers.

Now in its second year, the event offers the opportunity for students to polish their CVs through workshops provided by experienced HR professionals, as well as interview tips and techniques. Professional level students will also have the chance to meet and get screened by potential employers.

Mohua Rashid, Country Manager for ACCA Bangladesh, said: “The ACCA Fair offers an excellent opportunity for potential students to have their questions answered and to meet ACCA’s Approved Learning Partners all under one roof.

“The feedback we have received from last year’s event has been very positive. Most participants agreed that the eventisboth insightful and useful towards their preparation for careers as finance professionals. This year’s event promises a healthy turn-out of students, their families and academics for the various sessions organised.”

Opening the event, Dr Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka says: “The ACCA Qualification contains the perfect blend of strategic management skills and technical knowledge to succeed in strategic financial and management roles.

“Because accountancy is the language of business, the profession binds the global marketplace together. As members of a global body, ACCA qualified professionals are able to use their qualification to work both locally and across borders.”

Dr Siddique concludes: “The ACCA Qualification is not only globally portable, it is also genuinely flexible! It allows its members to step into their career in any business sector. Members can expect to work across a wide range of sectors including industry and commerce, public practice and the public sector.”
