Airtel Bangladesh Limited joins hands with Special Olympics World Games, Bangladesh

Airtel Bangladesh Limited, one of the the fastest growing telecom operators of the country came forward to stand beside the participating members of Special Olympics World Summer Games from Bangladesh.

Ms. Rubaba Dowla, Chief Service Officer, Airtel Bangladesh Limited, has handed over the sponsorship cheque to Dr. Shamim Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Special Olympics Bangladesh in the presence of Mr. Faruqul Islam, National Director & Head of Delegation, Special Olympics Bangladesh and Ms. Mamtaz Sultana, Treasurer, Special Olympics Bangladesh & Vice Principal, “Beautiful Mind” at Tajwar Center, Airtel Head Office, Banani.

The Special Olympics World Summer Games is for the gifted people who are willing to triumph over the barrier of the stereotyped perception. The participants of this event are ready to take the challenge and establish their ability to overcome all diversity. This year it will start from 25 July, 2015 in Los Angeles and will end at 2 August, 2015.

From Bangladesh, eighty participants are in the final phase of training by BKSP and they will be flying to Los Angeles soon. Airtel following the philosophy of empowering people, came forward to support these Special-Olympians financially. Airtel will be bearing a portion of the participation cost and the training cost of those eighty participants. Special Olympics Bangladesh was first established in 1994 and the special Olympians of the country started participating in the Special Olympics World Summer Games from 1995. Since then Bangladesh has participated in every World Summer Games till now. The special Olympians from Bangladesh have won many awards including over 100 gold medals at these tournaments.
