Airtel Bangladesh Limited, the fastest growing mobile operator of the country, has been conducting workshops on their flagship management trainee program titled ‘Young Leader Program’ in leading educational institutions. Noor Mohammad, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) and Tahseen Zakaria, Head-Talent Acquisition of Airtel Bangladesh Limited are conducting the airtel11workshops. Students are getting fist hand experience to meet Airtel HRto understand and explore employability in the country’s rewarding telecom industry along with the dynamism that they will have to adapt once they are recruited through this program. This is the fourth time in row since the company is providing such opportunity to fresh graduates and postgraduate candidates. The last date of application in Young Leader program for this year is 31st January 2015.

Recruited young minds are provided with an accelerated career track and mentoring inputs that would facilitate taking up challenging leadership roles in the organization. Graduates who have recently completed or going to complete their graduation and post-graduation degree in any discipline within the next two months can directly apply for full time job opportunity at Airtel through this program.

Young leader selection process consists of five steps. The first stage involves a written examination that tests the candidates’reasoning, numerical and verbal skills. Once through this hurdle, the candidates have to go through an initial level of interview. If the interviewers are satisfied with the answers the candidates will then have to spend time at the assessment centre where they will be evaluated for their skill sets. This is to be followed by a computer based psychometric analysis. Those who pass through the above gruelling process are then faced with one final level interview. This is a process of elimination where the Airtel challenges only the best of the best to survive. With the final interview done and the process over, Airtel offers the job position to the deserving few. This is a month long process and will be concluded by end of February with the winners joining Airtel on 1st of March, 2015.

For the first six months of the one year YL training period, the trainees are rotated through functional stints, giving them a sound grounding and understanding about Airtel and its multifaceted business approach. Young Leaders are expected to have both national and international mobility. YLs are empowered and are assigned in cross-functional projects to a much greater extent comparing to the employees who are joining the company through regular recruitment process. This ensures that the most deserving and dynamic fresh graduates gradually convert themselves in to the future business leader in the industry.

The next YL workshops are scheduled for Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and North South University (NSU) in their respective campuses.
