No need to control ICAB thru’ FRC: Barrister Shafique
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) is moving forward to develop the standards of accounting in the country. So, there is no need to form any super functional body to take upper hand over ICAB as the Institute is a professional body, said Barrister Shafique Ahmed, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
He said, we do not find any oversight body to supervise the function of the Supreme Court Bar Association; then why should we need a super functional body to have control over ICAB. Such move is contradictory with the existing law; therefore the proposed Financial Reporting Act cannot be enacted.

JSC, JDC mark 89.94pc pass
The results of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dhakhil Certificate examinations were published on Sunday with 89.94 percent pass.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence, Ganabhaban, at about 10:00 am.
Sheikh Hasina then formally published the results, reports UNB.
Students will get their results after the Education Minister’s press briefing at around 1 pm at the ministry.

Governor for ensuring defense against banking malpractices
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman has advised all banks to establish defense system against banking malpractices.
“A good corporate governance system needs to be in place to reward the worthy and punish the habitual offender. This is the first line of defense against banking malpractices and derelictions of duty,” the governor said delivering his speech at the Nurul Matin Memorial Lecture on ‘Ethics in Banking’ in the capital city.
