Tea prices dip for second week
Tea prices in Bangladesh slipped for a second straight week at a weekly auction on Tuesday as demand from local buyers was poor amid political violence, brokers said.
The average price of Bangladeshi tea was 200.04 taka ($2.74) per kg against 213.25 taka in the previous auction on Nov. 19, an official from National Brokers Ltd said on Wednesday.

HSBC launches Business Development Office in Uttara EPZ
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Bangladesh marked expansion of its network with a new Business Development Office in Uttara EPZ ( Export Processing Zone ), Nilphamari.
This is the 8th Business Development Office of HSBC Bangladesh . With this, HSBC becomes the only international bank to be present in all the eight EPZs of Bangladesh . Uttara EPZ was established in 2001. It houses a range of diversified exporters. The EPZ is attracting substantial foreign investment for the country. SSC, equivalent exams shifted to Feb 9
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations for 2014 have been shifted to February 9 due to Biswa Ijtema.
The Ministry of Education approved the schedule on Wednesday, Subodh Chandra Dhali, Public Relations officer of the ministry, told reporters.
The examinations were supposed to start on February 2. The written examinations will end on March 13 as the practical exams are scheduled to begin on March 16.

Japan to provide 500m Yen grant aid for primary education
The Japanese government will provide 500 million Japanese Yen or approximately Tk 49.19 crore to Bangladesh as grant aid for the Primary Education Development Program-3 (PEDP-3).
In this regard, ‘Exchange of Notes’ and ‘Grant Agreements’ are scheduled to be signed on Thursday at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
ERD Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad will sign the ‘Exchange of Notes’ and the ‘Grant Agreements’ on behalf of Bangladesh while Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima and JICA Bangladesh Office Chief Representative Dr Takao Toda will sign the ‘Exchange of Notes’ and ‘Grant Agreements’ respectively for the government of Japan, said an ERD official.
