China to help Bangladesh build deep seaport: Envoy
China would help Bangladesh build its first deep seaport at any site in the country to facilitate trade and business, Chinese Ambassador Ma Mingqiang said today.
“China is willing to cooperate with any other country in this regard...the cooperation is open and it is not exclusive,” he told diplomatic correspondents at Jatiya Press Club here.
Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) organized the discourse styled “DCAB Talk” with its President Angur Nahar Monty in the chair. DCAB General Secretary Pantho Rahman also spoke.
Indian scholarships for over 800 BD students
India on Sunday distributed scholarships to over 800 Bangladeshi students under the ‘Muktijodha Scholarship Scheme’.
The scholarships were distributed at the hands of Minister 
for Liberation War Affairs in the presence of Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Sringla.
The Indian Government in 2006 initiated the scholarship scheme to strengthen the historic legacy that both countries share in fighting and winning the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War against Pakistan.

Workshop on urban poverty reduction held in city
A regional exchange workshop was organized at the very end of the Urban Partnerships for Poverty Reduction (UPPR) learning and good practices documentation process. It aimed to establish a dialogue among the community members, a selection of national and international experts, the consultant team leading the documentation, and UNDP.
The workshop was organized at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC), Dhaka during March 20-21, 2016. The workshop featured the findings from the ‘Documentation of UPPR Learning and Good Practices’ – the country’s single largest urban poverty reduction project which was implemented during 2008-2015.
