4-day int’l RMG sourcing trade shows kicks off

RMG sector to get full-fledged institute, testing laboratory

A four-day international sourcing trade shows on RMG industry under one roof yesterday began in the city in a bid to making apparel industry more enriched.

Industries Minister Amair Hossain Amu inaugurated the three international events as chief guest. He said, “About 300 factories in accessories and packaging sector are in operation in the country. Products ranging 30 to 35 are being produced in the backward industries of the RMG. The country earned about $5.61 billion in fiscal year 2014-15 by exporting surplus after meeting the local demand.”

He said, the government is working to flourish accessories and packaging sectors. As part of 5this process, industries ministry has given an instruction to the BSCIC for setting up a full-fledged institute and a testing laboratory.

Around 300 companies from more than 30 countries are taking part in the exhibitions– GARMENTECH Bangladesh 2016, International Yarn & Fabrics Sourcing Fair and GAP Expo-2016.

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor and apparel entrepreneur Annisul Huq said,”Some NGOs and many of our competitors have been engaged in destroying the RMG industry. In this situation, the governments’ policy support is important to take the industry moving forward.”

Zakaria Trade & Fair International, ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Bangladesh Garment Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) are organizing 15th edition of GARMENTECH Bangladesh 2016 – International Apparel Machinery & Allied Products Tradeshow, 7th edition of International Yarn & Fabrics Sourcing Fair, 7th edition of GAP Expo-2016 International Garment Accessories, Packaging & Related Machinery Expo all under roof.

Mr. M.A. Mannan, MP, State Minister for Finance and Planning; Mr. Md. Tajul Islam, MP, Chairman Standing committee on Ministry of Power Energy & Mineral Resources; Mr. Anawar-Ul-Alam Chouwdhury (Pervez), Former President, BGMEA; Mr. Rafez Alam Chouwdhury, President, Bangladesh Garment Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association(BGAPMEA) and Nandagopal K Director ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd , the co-organizers of the event were present at the inauguration ceremony along with others.

Nanda gopal K, Director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd said, “When we started GARMENTECH Bangladesh in 2002 the RMG sector was exporting USD 4.5 Billion and we have seen the sector grow rapid to reach USD 27 Billion plus in the last 15 years and GARMENTECH Bangladesh and its concurrent shows have played its parts in bringing global suppliers closer to the door steps of the local makers through live demonstration of technology, yarn & fabrics and garment accessories & packaging all under one roof.”

Mr. Rafez Alam Chouwdhury, President of Bangladesh Garment Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) said, “Through GAPEXPO we have been showcasing Garment Accessories & Packaging to the RMG sector and it has served as a good platform for our members to showcase their latest innovations and products to the potential buyers from the RMG sector across the country.”

‘GARMENTECH Bangladesh 2016’ showcases the latest in Sewing, Knitting, embroidery, Laundry, Finishing, Dyeing, CAD/CAM, Printing, Cutting, Spreading machinery from leading companies of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, India, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, USA, Sri lanka and Bangladesh. Some of the machinery is being launched keeping in needs of the industry for the first time in Bangladesh at the Show. The show is visited by decision makers and technical & production personnel from the RMG sector in the country.

Into its 7th edition International Yarn & Fabrics Sourcing Fair has the latest collection of natural and synthetic yarn and fabric and its blends both for woven and knit sectors showcased by overseas companies from India, China, Singapore besides Bangladesh. In the quest for value added garments sourcing newer and innovative blends of natural and synthetic fabrics is showcased for the benefit merchandisers, buying agents and buying hours and RMG makers.

7th edition of GAP Expo-2016 Co-organized with the Bangladesh Garment Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) has the largest collection of garment accessories and packaging used by the RMG industry to be showcased by leading companies from Bangladesh as well as from overseas. Companies are showcasing Garment Accessories, Packaging and related machinery including Labels, Zippers, Tags, Tapes, Thread, Ribbon, Buttons, Rivets, Laces, hooks, Transfer Film, paper, ink etc., along with related machinery.
