Bangladesh beside Nepal survivors

In response to the request for assistance by the Government of Nepal, the Government of Bangladesh has dispatched relief materials.

tremor in NepalThey comprise 761 tents, 700 tins of biscuits, 3,500 litres of bottled drinking water, 6,700 kg medicine, 90 kg cotton, 45 kg of bandage, 22 cartons of ready-made garments and 1,300 blankets.

The relief materials were brought to Kathmandu by a special Bangladesh Air Force Flight last week. A 30-member medical team of Bangladesh Army also arrived on April 26 and has been working in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, since April 27.

The Embassy of Bangladesh has also been working with several private organisations. It has distributed relief materials in Lalitpur and Dhulikhel as well as villages in Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Gorkha. The children of Embassy officials have volunteered to distribute goods to earthquake victims staying in camps.

A press release issued by the Embassy of Bangladesh said numerous organisations, institutions and individuals have also sent relief materials for the friendly people of Nepal, including Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the Institute of Architects Bangladesh and members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Besides these, many other organisations and individuals have also donated relief materials to the Embassy of Nepal.
