Bangladesh to export bandwidth to India

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company is set to export 10 Gbps of bandwidth to Tripura, a northeastern state in India. A team from the state-owned company will visit India to sign the deal possibly on btrc27 January with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), The Daily Star reported online.

BSNL will purchase 10 Gbps initially and will increase the amount gradually, said Monwar Hossain, managing director of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company. A 22-km optical fibre cable link from Brahmanbaria to Akhaura boarder will be developed in four months to transport the bandwidth. Two other states of India, Meghalaya and Assam, also expressed interest in bandwidth from Bangladesh, said Hossain.
