Bank Asia sets off Agent Banking pilot phase in Munshigonj

In an effort to bring huge number of the country’s non-banking population under the banking network and ensure financial inclusion, Bank Asia, for the first time in Bangladesh, set off Agent Baking pilot phase in Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshigonj district.

Vice Chairman of the Bank Mohammed Lakiotullah, Chairman of the Board Audit Committee Rumee A Hossain, Directors M. Irfan Syeed and Shah Md. Nurul Alam, President & Managing Director Md. Mehmood Husain, Deputy Managing Directors Aminul Islam and Md. Arfan Ali, Sirajdikhan Upazila Chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed were, among others, present on the occasion. A large number of customers and local elite attended the function, says a press release.

Agent Banking means providing banking services to the bank customers through the engaged agents under a valid agency agreement, rather than a teller/ cashier. It is the owner of an outlet who conducts banking transactions on behalf of the concerned bank. Abiding all rules and regulations of the Bank, agent will help customers enjoy financial transaction, bill payment, remittance service, process loan, open DPS, transfer funds, inquiry balance alongside get retirement benefit and other allowances.

Upon approval from Bangladesh Bank, Bank Asia appointed agents in Bhabanipur, Joinser, Rajanagor, Nimtola of Sirajdikhan and Chowkbazar of Sreenagar while appointment of agents in Chitrokoat, Noagaon (Matborerhat), Lotobdi, Shekhernagar of Sirajdikhan, Boramukam Bazar of Lauhajang and Dewbhog of Sadar upazila in Munshiganj district is under process.
