‘BCL men’ beat up 2 JCD activists at JU

Two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit were beaten up by Bangladesh Chhatra League men on Tuesday over took part at the protesting procession demanding to cancel the Arrest warrant issuing of BNP’s senior vice president Tarique Zia.

The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam Pappu and Saddam Hossain of Geological Sciences ju photodepartment and also resident student of Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall and Shahhed Rafiq Jabbar Hall respectively.

Sources said, around at 7.00 am, some JCD leaders and activists of JU brought out a procession from Prantique Gate to Vice-Chancellor’s residence. Later, two participants were caught up by JU BCL leaders at their respective department around at 11.00 am and beat up them mercilessly at the transport area led by BCL president and General Secretary while BCL leaders Mithun Kundu, Murshidur Rahman, Minhajul Abedin, Nawsad Alam Anik, Sajib Kumar Shaha were beat them.

Afterwards, the injured students were handed over to JU proctorial body. After query, JU administration also handed over the Ashulia Thana Police, confirmed assistant Proctor Mehedi Iqbal.

JU BCL president Mahmudur Rahman Jony said we will protest them who involved in any in any subversive works.

Obaidullah Shuvo, senior Vice-President of JU JCD, said we are working in favor of protection the democracy but opposition party tortured us. In this incident, we expressed deep concern and demanded punishment immediately.
