Beximco partners with China Energy Engineering Corporation

Beximco Group, the largest conglomerate of the country today enters into a strategic partnership with The world’s largest electrical power solution provider and Fortune 500 Company ‘China Energy Engineering Corporation’ to develop high technology, sustainable energy projects.

The agreement was signed at the Beximco’s Gulshan office. Ajmal Kabir, CEO Beximco Power Company Ltd and Fu Hongwei, President, CEEC – NWPC signed the agreement on behalf of the organizations.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E Ma MingQiang, Beximco Group Chairman Sohail F PhotoRahman, Vice Chairman Salman F Rahman, Director Shayan F Rahman, Director and CEO Syed Naved Husain along with other high officials from both the companies were present during the signing.

As per the agreement both the companies Beximco and CEEC will work on four major projects outlined below. These projects will be undertaken by CEEC on energy, procurement, construction and funding basis.

  1. 8 MW of solar power at Beximco Industrial Park.
  2. A state of art 660 MW ultra-super critical coal fired power plant which is echo friendly based on the most recent international standard set by Paris Protocol.
  3. A 200 MW Solar power plant.
  4. A JV energy company to build a ‘Smart Grid ‘and distribution system countrywide.

Among these, 8 MW of solar power at Beximco Industrial Park is very special project as it is will use the latest technology to efficiently use the industrial roof tops. No tree will be cut to accommodate any solar panel. This will be a great model for other industrial parks across Bangladesh.

Fu Hongwei, chairman of CEEC expressing his views on the agreement said “We are very happy to sign the agreement with the organization like Beximco. China is always keen to work closer with Bangladesh and keep its contribution in Bangladesh development. This agreement is a part of it. We are hoping to strengthen the bilateral relationship through this agreement. We are also hoping this agreement will encourage other Chinese investors to invest in Bangladesh.”

Beximco Group Vice Chairman Salman F Rahman said “Today is a very special day for us. We have signed four agreements with CEEC, the world’s largest electrical power solution provider and Fortune 500 Company. We are going to set up 8 MW of solar power at Beximco Industrial Park. We will also work together to set up 200 MW solar panel in Gaibandha and 660 MW coal-based power plant. We will also establish a joint venture energy company to build a small grid and distribution system countrywide.”

The above projects will contribute significantly in improving the energy situation in the country. He added.

Beximco’s vision is to create the most sustainable industrial parks and manufacturing facilities. In line with this vision Beximco Industrial Park was built on 350 acres with beautiful open spaces and a plantation of 100,000 tress, organic farming and a wild life sanctuary. Apart from the fact that the vertical textile complex employs 40000 people, Beximco Industrial Park also acts like the ‘Lungs of Gazipur’.

Beximco uses waste heat recovery in their present 40 MW power generation, LED lighting, condensate recovery, effluent treatment, Ozone technology for waterless washing, making Beximco one of South Asia ‘s  most echo friendly manufacturing operations with a minimum level of greenhouse gas emissions.
