BUFT a model university in fashion and textiles
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) was set up in March 2012 under the Private Universities Act of 2010 and is dedicated to the development of human resources for the readymade garment, textile sectors of Bangladesh. The aim is to develop this university as a centre of excellence for the study, research and development to serve the nation. It was functioning from 1999 named as BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (BIFT), a pioneer and leading educational training institute specialised in the apparel sector of Bangladesh with a noble mission to produce skilled manpower for export oriented readymade garments (RMG) sector.

JU BCU protests development fee hike

The pro-Awami League teachers swept the teachers’ representative Senate of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday. A total of 25 out of 33 posts were bagged by 'Bangabandhur Adarsha o Muktijuddhar Chatonai Biswasi Progotisil Shikkhok Somaj Panel' while the pro-BNP and left-leaning teachers bagged 8 seats.

No entrance exams for children: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that kids should be enrolled in primary schools without any entrance exams.
“Why should a kid sit for entrance exam? It is not mandatory to go through exams for getting
admitted into the primary schools,” the prime minister said at a program at Shilpokola Academy in Dhaka Sunday morning.
She also ordered ministries to take proper steps in this regard.
“Children should admit into schools in their own area. It is their right,” she added.
