Turkish school student becomes first in world math exam
Ragib Mostafa, a Turkish school student in Bangladesh, has become first in world math exam. Mostafa, who was up against nine million students from 110 nations, became first in Edexcel IGCSE exam. Mostafa is a 10th grade student from Bangladesh's International Hope Turkish School and he received his award from Bangladesh's London ambassador.
British Council Bangladesh Director Brendan McSherry said Turkish schools in the populous nation are one of the best international schools in the country. "They got the best results in this exam," McSherry said, according to a quote provided by private Cihan news agency.
Bangladesh Studies at California University
For management efficiency expert Subir Chowdhury, his gift of $1 million to establish the Subir and Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies at the University of California at Berkeley will help remove a blind spot in South Asian studies in the U.S. by focusing cutting-edge research on modern Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh has a population that is about half of the U.S., and it has produced the best talent, people who are making a huge contribution to America,” he told India-West at the South Asian studies offices on the U.C. Berkeley campus here.
Postponed HSC exam on June 8
The English second part examination of HSC under Dhaka Board that was postponed due to question paper leakage will be held on June 8.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid made the announcement in a press briefing at the secretariat on Thursday afternoon.
