Japan to provide 500m Yen grant aid for primary education

The Japanese government will provide 500 million Japanese Yen or approximately Tk 49.19 crore to Bangladesh as grant aid for the Primary Education Development Program-3 (PEDP-3). In this regard, ‘Exchange of Notes’ and ‘Grant Agreements’ are scheduled to be signed on Thursday at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. ERD Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad will sign the ‘Exchange of Notes’ and the ‘Grant Agreements’ on behalf of Bangladesh while Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima and JICA Bangladesh Office Chief Representative Dr Takao Toda will sign the ‘Exchange of Notes’ and ‘Grant Agreements’ respectively for the government of Japan, said an ERD official.

SJIBL awards scholarships among students

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd (SJIBL) awarded scholarships among the brilliant and poor students of the country. In connection to this, the bank arranged a scholarship awarding ceremony on Saturday at the BanghabandhuInternationalConferenceCenter in the city. A total of 500 students of different Colleges, MedicalColleges and Universities received the scholarship for their brilliant result. Students urged not go to brokers for US visa assistance

Consul General of the US Embassy in Dhaka Jamie Fouss on Thursday suggested Bangladeshi students interested to study in the United Sates not to go to brokers for assistance and refrain from submitting false statements saying it may permanently damage a student’s opportunity to study there. “I want to leave you with this strong message for both visitors and student visa applicants. No one should ever pay a broker for a guaranteed visa. These brokers can’t deliver,” he told reporters at a press conference at the American Centre. Fouss said false stories and fake documents often end up with a refusal and a permanent mark against the applicant, reports UNB.
