Renowned cardiologist and former director of National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease (NICBD) Professor Dr. M Akhteruzzaman passed away today at Metropolitan Medical Center (MMC). He was 74. Prof Khaleda 1st BUET female VC dies

Professor Khaleda Ekram, the first woman vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), breathed her last at a hospital in Bangkok today. Sixty-six-year-old Ekram was suffering from cancer and breathed her last at Bangkok General Hospital. Pioneering Bengali woman journalist and editor of the country’s first illustrated women’s weekly ‘Begum’, Nurjahan Begum, passed away at Square Hospital in Dhaka on Monday morning. She was 91. Nurjahan Begum who was admitted to the Square Hospital on Wednesday last with respiratory problems, including pneumonia, was shifted to the hospital’s intensive care unit on Saturday as her condition deteriorated.
