Army hopes to normalise law & order if election held

Bangladesh Army today said the law and order situation will return to normalcy if the planned national election in February is held, paving the way for their return to barracks.

“Like the country’s people, the Bangladesh Army is expecting a free, fair, impartial and festive election as per the government outline,” Army Training and Doctrine Command’s (ARTDOC) general officer commanding Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman told a media briefing at Dhaka Cantonment.

Bangladesh now has 127,612,384 voters

The total number of voters in the country is currently 127,612,384. Of them, 64,760,382 are male voters, 62,850,772 are female, and 1,230 are transgender voters.

Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed shared the information with reporters today at his office in Nirbachan Bhaban, Agargaon.
