Hindu widows to have right on husbands’ land

 Hindu widows will have the rights to both agricultural and non-agricultural lands that belonged to their husbands, The High Court yesterday ruled.

They will also get the right to sell the lands for legal necessities during their lifetime, the HC observed.

Interpreting the Hindu Women's Right to Properties Act, a judgment of Indian Federal Court in 1941, and Adaption Law of 1972, the court said no separation has been made between the agricultural and non-agricultural lands in Bangladesh, and so Hindu widows have rights to the lands of their husbands.

Dr Sabrina sued for having 2 NIDs

JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif  Chowdhury has been sued on charge of having two National ID cards. The Election Commission filed a case against her to this regard.

Bangladeshi shopkeeper shot dead in Boston robbery

Boston Police have arrested the man who shot a Bangladeshi shopkeeper in the head during a robbery in the city's Roxbury (Massachusetts, USA) neighborhood last month. Boston police arrested Stephon Samuel, 25, on Friday, local time, three weeks after the ongoing movement of expatriate Bangladeshis in Boston. Arrested Stephon  was charged with armed robbery by means of a firearm, armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and armed career criminal level 1, according to Boston Police. Probe body formed to investigate ex-army officer’s death

A probe-body has already been formed to look into into the incident of death of a retired army officer allegedly in police firing at Cox’s Bazar marine drive after investigation of the matter.
