Protestors keep Bangladesh front and center at NY Fashion Week
99 Pickets, in collaboration with Bangladeshi photojournalist Ismail Ferdous and filmmaker Nathan Fitch, began demonstrating outside of New York Fashion Week to demand that brands whose clothing was made at Rana Plaza or Tazreen pay full and fair compensation to the workers who were injured and to the families of workers who were killed.
The Rana Plaza factory collapse killed at least 1,135 workers in April 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Tazreen factory fire killed at least 112 in November 2012 in Savar, Bangladesh.
IDB to provide $ 1.2b loan for oil imports
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will provide Bangladesh with $1.2 billion in loans this year to help finance its oil imports, at cheaper rates than last year when it borrowed more.
The IDB will provide the loan at 4.50 percent, lower than 4.65 percent last year, a senior official of Bangladesh Petroleum Corp said on Thursday.

Post the violent elections in Bangladesh conducted on January 5, the Executive Chairman of the Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) and a former advisor to the caretaker government of Bangladesh, Hossain Zillur Rahman, has pinpointed the failures of the elections that were also shunned globally.
