Discussion on ‘Managing HR Disputes’ at BIAC

The Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) was established under license granted by the Government, to assist parties in resolving business disputes outside courts through arbitration and mediation.

ADR, especially Mediation is a technique that HR manager or related officials can learn to resolve disputes at workplace. It is a good practice to have personnel of organizations trained in the Mediation process in order to manage in-house grievances effectively.

FinalBIAC has organized a discussion programme on “Managing HR Disputes” on Thursday, 7th January, 2016 at BIAC Office to generate ideas regarding the initiation of training programmes on the particular subject.

The purpose of this discussion programme was to introduce delegates to ‘workplace mediation’, a new and dynamic form of mediation which is being widely used around the world. Mediation can be the solution of tackling conflict at an early stage before disputes are formalised.

A presentation was given to develop delegates’ understanding on the principles of workplace mediation; the nature and structure of the process (and how it differs from traditional employment mediation); the types of issues it can address, when it is appropriate to use this style of mediation; and its benefits.

10 participants who are handling HR of different Banks and corporates participated in this discussion programme. Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman BIAC and Mr. Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali, Chief Executive Officer, BIAC were also present in this programme.
