DSE opens week down as major sectors dip

Dhaka Stock exchange (DSE) began the week on Sunday slightly down as the major sectors plunged further into falling trend while Chittagong Stock exchange witnessed upward trend.

All the major sectors including textile and insurance were down on the day while cement, food and allied, fuel and power, engineering and pharmaceutical and chemical issues managed some gains.

The broader DSEX index of DSE was 0.48 point down at 4672.39. The blue-chip DS30 also was dsein the following trend to close 0.96 points down at 1756.81. On the other hand, Shariah DSES closed the session of the day slightly 0.94 point up at 1118.99.

CSE also closed the day up with its major CASPI index closing 14.59 points at 14,361.40.

The transactions at DSE were 13.43 crore shares valued at total Taka 468.68 crore.

At DSE, out of the day’s 324 traded issues, price of 116 securities closed higher against 158 losing issues. At CSE, issues traded were 236 while 106 closed higher against 96 closing lower.

The major gaining issues were Confidence Cement, Apex Foods, Doreen Power, Navana CNG and Libra Infusion. The major losing issues were Evince Textile, Argon Denims, Pragati Insurance, HR Textile and Continental Insurance.

Confidence Cement topped the turnover leaders followed by Doreen Power, MJL BD, Brac Bank and Argon Denims.
