Electricity bill payment thru’ Robi at Mymensingh

Robi Axiata Limited, one of the leading mobile phone operators of the country has launched electricity bill payment service facility for Power Development Board (PDB) at Mymensingh region. Robi believes that this will facilitate a reliable and convenient mechanism for the clients of PDB to pay their monthly electricity bills.

Robi’s system for mobile payment of electricity bills will be integrated with the PDB’s electricity billing system. Hence, electricity bills paid through Robi’s electricity bills payment system will be updated on PDB’s billing system on real time basis. From convenience point of view, PDB clients may choose to pay their electricity bills either through Robi Cash Points or through their mobile phone.

2Mobile users will get an automatic SMS regarding their monthly electricity bill payment dues. Besides, they will get a reminder SMS prior to the payment deadline in case they forget to pay the dues. Moreover, once they pay the electricity bill they will get an immediate confirmation of the payment. Hence, Robi mobile electricity bill payment system is completely secure and reliable.

PDB clients in Tangail, Bhuapur, Shakhipur, Ghatail, Kalihati, Mymensingh Metro, Mymensing (North)-I, Fulpur, Fulbaria, Gouripur,  Muktagacha, Iswarganj, Haluaghat, Netrokona, Bhaluka, Trisal, Gafargaon, Jhenaigati, Nalitabari, Nokhla, Sreebordi, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Sarishabari, Kishoreganj, Bajitpur, Bhairab Bazar,  Kuliachar, Shimulkandi, Kishoreganj areas will be able to avail this facility under Mymensingh region.

Out of 6 regions of PDB’s mobile electricity payment zones; Robi is currently offering the service to Rajshahi, Comilla and Mymensingh region. Robi has recently won the right to collect electricity bills in Mymensingh region from PDB through a competitive tendering process beating other mobile phone operators.

In the launching program, Mr. Shah Jalal Uddin, Head of Business Operations, Digital Services and Syed Ashraf Uddin Ahmed, Mymensingh Regional Manager from Robi demonstrated how a customer could pay their monthly electricity bills using the Robi mobile bill pay service. Local artists performed traditional Geeti Kobita in the program to highlight the facilities of mobile electricity bill payment system, Mobile Financial Services and to promote the initiatives undertaken by the Government to realize the vision of Digital Bangladesh.

Md. Abdur Rouf, General Manager, Commercial, PDB, Mymensingh was present as Chief Guest while Engr. Sk. Md. Alauddin, Chief Engineer, PDB, Mymensingh and Ataul Karim Khokon, Secretary, Mymensingh Prss Club were present as Guest of Honour of the programme. Rakibul Islam, Additional Chief Engineer and Mr. Mrinal Kanti Sen, Superintendent Engineer (Mymensingh Zone) were also present in the occassion.
