Energy advisor meets Indian petroleum minister    

Energy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Tawifq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB, met Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Prahdhan, on Wednesday.

Both sides discussed the need to greatly enhance cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sector to the mutual benefits of people of the two countries.

Dr. Tawifq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BBShri Pradhan requested cooperation from Govt. of Bangladesh for materialization of Indo-Bangla product pipeline from Siliguri to Parvatipur, which is part of Prime Minister Shri Modi’s view that North-East is our Natural Economic Zone (NEZ).

Shri Pradhan thanked Bangladesh for it’s help in smooth execution of OTPC’s power generation facility at Palatana in Tripura as entire Bangladesh Government Machinery right down to the district Administration had provided exemplary ground support facilitating the transit of 90 oversized cargoes.

Shri Pradhan added that India is keen on setting up of marketing infrastructure in Bangladesh including infrastructure development projects on case to case basis.

The two sides agreed to have frequent interaction to further cooperation.
