Teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) demanded exemplary punishment on Thursday for a truck driver who killed JU student through his reckless driving.
The demand came at a human chain around at 11.00 am ahead of main entrance of the campus. Over 100 students and teachers took part the protesting programme. Later they also brought out a rally on the campus.
Shahab Enam Khan, Chairman of IR, said, it is a shameful incident for our nation. Lack of proper management and reckless driving, we have lost many live which is irreplaceable for us. Also he urged to the government to ensure supreme punishment.
Earlier, Eakub Ali Abir, master’s student of IR department and also the resident of Shaheed Rafiq Zabbar hall, left his life at Mymensingh area.
Teachers of IR department Dr. Abdullah Hel Kafi, Jannatul Habib, assistant Professor Ronnie Basak and Ali Akbar were present at the human chain, among others.
