The 20th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2016) was held on June 16-18 at ST. PETERSBURG, Russia. A strong business delegation from Bangladesh led by Finance Minister, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, MP attended the Forum.
The key topics of discussion are the new economic reality and the search for new sources of growth. The most important discussion for Bangladesh took part in the Russia-Bangladesh: Era of New Opportunities session where Finance Minister shared his interest in his Key Note Speech to enhance the trade and economic cooperation with Russia & Euro Asia Region in the areas of energy, construction and high technologies. The formation Intergovernmental commission between Russia-Bangladesh is also at final stage, he added.
During Russia-Bangladesh common session at SPIEF, Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmed, President, FBCCI was the moderator and Mr. H.K. Kabir, President, CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Mr. Hafizur Rahman Khan, S. M. Saiful Hoque, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in the Russian Federation , Ekaterina Lebedeva, Vice President, Saint-Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry was remained there as a Panelist
The delegation member also included Mr. Lokman Akash, Sr. Vice President, Mohammad Ali Deen, Vice President, CIS-BCCI, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Diamond World Ltd, Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman, Chairman, Textile Engineering Division, The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh along with fifteen other CIS-BCCI members.
Meanwhile, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2016) 332 formal agreement for around 1 trillion rubles ($15.44 billion) were signed, Adviser to the Russian President, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee – Executive Secretary, Anton Kobyakov said on Friday at a press conference of the results of the forum.
More than 12,000 people from 130 countries participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2016. 1,300 companies, including 880 represented by executives, participated in the forum.
