Foodpanda observes World Orphan Day

World Orphan Day is an annual event to raise public awareness about the orphans around the world. According to studies, every two seconds, somewhere around the globe, a child is being deprived of his or her right of having a family. On the 20th of April, 2015, Foodpanda spends this day with the children of Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage, one of the oldest and biggest organizations in Asia. It was projected by Nawab Sir Salimullah Bahadur of Dhaka in 1909 & was financed by the Nowab Bahadur out of his personal pic.jpg-1funds till his death in 1915.

foopanda organized a campaign, “Feed an Orphan” for World Orphan Day and collected donation from its customers, with which they bought educational materials for the orphans. The entire team of Foodpanda visited Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage at Azimpur, Dhaka on 20th April, 2015 and handed over the educational materials to around 280 children. The orphans were given pens, notebooks, Quran Sharifs and chocolates. The children were ecstatic to meet the team, and accepted the gifts with a smile on their face. Along with Foodpanda, a number of restaurants, such as Korai Gost, Dhaba, Fajitas, Spicy Broast, Royal Buffet, Madchef, Live Kitchen, Rice & Noodle, Food Republic, Fakruddin, Platter, Café Hollywood, Tarka, Hakka Dhaka, Absolute Thai, Taaaasty, Olive Garden, Smoke Music Café also provided lunch to the orphans.

Foodpanda, a venture of Rocket Internet, is an online food ordering portal headquartered in Berlin, which allows people to choose and order from a wide range of restaurants available around their neighborhood.

At present, Foodpanda is operating in more than 36 countries across five continents, and in 3 cities in Bangladesh; Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. Foodpanda started its journey in Bangladesh in December 2013.

Every year Foodpanda organizes such events to raise awareness countrywide to show how combined effort can go a long way in helping the less fortunate.
