The High Court (HC) today asked the concerned authorities to form high-powered commission to set house rent and resolving disputes between house owners and their tenants.
The court ordered to form a seven-member commission within six months, with a jurist nominated by the Law Ministry as its chief, reports BSS.
The HC division bench comprising Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman and Justice Md Ruhul Quddus passed the order acting on a writ petition filed by rights body Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB).
Cabinet secretary, secretary to the Prime Minister’s office, secretary of parliament secretariat and law secretary were made respondents in the writ, among others.
According to today’s (Wednesday) order, the commission will talk to the house owners and their tenants to identify and resolve their problems. It will also fix maximum and minimum house rent on the basis of the area.
