To deliver hassle-free and quick service to the applicants of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Machine Readable Visa (MRV), the Government, for the first time, has permitted five private commercial banks (PCBs)– Bank Asia Ltd, Dhaka Bank Ltd, One Bank Ltd, Premier Bank Ltd and Trust Bank Ltd – for collection of fees through their online network.
An agreement to this effect has been signed between Immigration and Passport Directorate of the Government of Bangladesh and the commercial banks at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday.
In presence of CQK Mustaq Ahmed, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Md. Abdul Mabud (PPM), Director General of Immigration and Passport and chief of the Banks singed separate contract.
President and managing director of Bank Asia Md. Mehmood Husain, managing director of Dhaka Bank Khondoker Fazle Rashid, managing director of One Bank M Fakhrul Alam, managing director of Premire Bank KAM Majedur Rahman, managing director and CEO of Trust Bank, Ishtique Ahmed Chowdhury inked the contract on behalf of respective organizations. Secretary of Planning Commission Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam and Project Director (Passport), Brigadier General Md Masud Rezwan ( PSC) were present on the occasion.
Under the agreement, MRP and MRV applicants will be able to deposit government-determined passport and/or visa fees from any corner of the country using any branch, booth, mobile banking, e-commerce, ATM booth, Internet Banking, Service Delivery Centres, Electronic Fund Transfer, Credit Card, Debit Card, Cash Card of these banks.
People will enjoy the online service, which also include application verification facilities from the beginning of 2014.
