A three-day twin international tradeshows on building construction and woodworking industries titled ‘2nd Bangladesh Buildcon 2016’ and ‘JAT presents 2nd Bangladesh Wood 2016’ began today, May 26, 2016 in Dhaka.
Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of India Dr. Adarsh Swaika inaugurated these two international events as the chief guest at the International Convention City, Bashundhara.
He said, “Bangladesh is developing in all sector as well as the real estate sector. This is a platform for all the stakeholders where everyone can get their advantages. Both Bangladeshi and Indian companies are getting benefited. These sorts of events have potential business perspective and will enhance the business relation between India and Bangladesh.”
Leveraging success from its first edition, more than 100 international companies from 10 countries under one roof are displaying their innovative products, latest technology, construction & building materials and woodworking machinery.
Addressing the event Architect Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, President of Institute of Architects Bangladesh said, “Furniture industry of Bangladesh is shifting its focuses from dependency on teak for raw materials to processed wood. Around 60% of raw materials, including timber, hardware, wood coating material, hardware & accessories and fabrics are imported. Exports have jumped by 253% during the last five years. The demand has been rising in the international markets, especially in the US and the EU. To fulfill this demand we need modern technologies to take the cost down. These tradeshows will help all the business stakeholders immensely to achieve that.”
The construction industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in Bangladesh and woodworking industry also get pace in the country along with its economy, which is expected to grow at over 7% annually.
Engr. Mohd. Shohel Rana, Vice President (Finance) of REHAB said, “There are more than 100 national and international stalls from here who are participating in this event, so that we can get the best and choose the best technology. Though our real estate sector is developing but still we have several challenges. We can solve all the challenges by working together. These events can bridge between business stakeholders of Bangladesh and India.”
ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd in collaboration with Futurex Trade Fair & Events are organizing the 2nd edition of the tradeshows which will conclude on May 28, 2016. The event is supported by PHD Chamber of Commerce India.
