The basketball team of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has emerged as the unbeaten champion in a highly competitive tournament in Nepal, bringing home the university’s first-ever international trophy.
The tournament, titled “Bright Vision International College Presents 1st 3X3 International University Basketball Championship,” was held on February 9, 2025, and featured six universities from Bangladesh and host Nepal.
Taifur Uddin, a student of IUB’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering, clinched the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Alongside IUB, the other team from Bangladesh was the University of Dhaka. The four Nepalese teams represented Purbanchal University, Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, and Thames International College.
The IUB team is now preparing for the upcoming Nepali Basketball Association (NeBA) Men’s Open Level 3X3 Tournament, also set to be held in Nepal soon.
