Former editor of vernacular Daily Bhorer Kagoj and veteran journalist Benzir Ahmed passed away early today while undergoing treatment at a city hospital. He was 68.
Benazir had been suffering from various diseases, including heart ailment, said his brother-in-law Sayed Uddin Mahmud.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held on Bhorer Kagoj premises at 10:00am and second janaza at the Jatiya Press Club.
Later, he will be buried at Banani graveyard after Zohr prayers.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of Benzir Ahmed.
In a condolence message, the PM said the country’s newspaper industry would recall late Benzir with deep respect as he played a pioneering role in creating a new trend in journalism in the country.
