Kuwait Ambassador to Dhaka Ali Ahmad Ebraheem Al-Dafairi today said his country was considering a proposal from Dhaka to carryout feasibility studies to install a petroleum refinery in Bangladesh.
“The matter is under process,” a foreign office statement quoted the envoy as saying as he called on Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at his office here.
It said Dafairi’s comment came as the minister referred to the issue of the earlier-proposed feasibility study for the refinery.
The statement said they discussed various bilateral issues including expanded cooperation in different important areas of both the countries.
Ali, it said, particularly expressed his satisfaction over the joint commission meeting in Kuwait City in 2013 and expected to host its next meeting in Dhaka soon.
“He (minister) expressed gratitude to the Kuwait government for resuming recruitment of Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait from January this year,” the release said pointing out that the current figure of Bangladeshi manpower in the oil-rich Middle Eastern country to be as high as two lakh.
The ambassador informed the minister that the Kuwait government is eager to further enhancing bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
